Membership
Dear Members of Austin Association of the Deaf,
To start a new year at the Austin Association of the deaf, we would like to present this opportunity to review our new membership policies that was effective since October 2010. It was motioned and passed during the Regular Business Meeting in October 2010. Officers believe it is important for members to be held responsible to review their members’ policies and expiration dates for upcoming years. All membership of any type is annual when members sign up to join.
The new changes are:
-Active membership: $35 a year
-Associate membership: $20 a year
-Active senior membership: $15 a year
-Active membership: All privileges including at all AAD meetings. Active members will be able to voice and vote during AAD meetings. Active members are required to maintain at least 20 hours of volunteering and attend at least 3 meetings. 21+ years old Deaf and Hard of Hearing are eligible for this category.
-Associate membership: Limited privileges, excluding voice and voting during at all AAD meetings. In order to become an active member of AAD, associate members are required to complete at least 20 hours of volunteering and attend at least 3 meetings to qualify. Anyone (hearing, 18-20 yrs old, seniors, etc.) is eligible for this category.
-Active Senior membership: All privileges are same as active membership. Active senior members are also required to maintain at least 10 hours of volunteering and attend at least 3 meetings. 62+ years old Deaf and Hard of Hearing are eligible for this category
Officers would like to remind our current active members that it is their responsibilities to renew their memberships, according to our bylaws; there is no grace period to renew memberships. For some reasons, if you choose not to renew your membership after it expires, expired active members will automatically become associate members when they sign up. Associate members will have opportunities to be reviewed by a team of AAD officers and members to upgrade their membership status if their requirements for volunteering and attending meetings are met. We hope you will be able to continue and enjoy what Austin Association of the Deaf has to offer for our members in upcoming years!
